Carl Brooking

My parents played golf at Bottle Lake Golf Club, and I’ve been playing since I was 10 years old. At 16, I gave up representative cricket and rugby to focus on golf.

I’m a dedicated PGA Golf Professional with a passion for the game that spans decades. My journey began as a junior golfer, progressing through Canterbury representative levels and going on to proudly represent New Zealand in amateur teams, competing across more than 18 countries.

From 2000 to 2006, I played professionally on the Australasian PGA Tour, competing against some of the region’s toughest players and developing my skills on a wide range of courses. My best round is 63, with a best score to par of -8 (64). I’ve also recorded three hole-in-ones and one albatross. My favourite course is Brookwater in Queensland, and my favourite players are Ben Hogan and Tiger Woods.

These experiences have shaped my deep understanding of the game, from technical precision to mental resilience. My time on tour taught me the importance of adaptability and mental toughness at the highest level.

Now 50 and playing off a +3 handicap, I may compete less often, but my passion for golf remains as strong as ever. I now focus that energy on coaching and mentoring golfers of all levels.

I work with a wide range of players, from aspiring junior representatives to experienced club golfers and corporate clients. My elite junior golfers are especially inspiring, with several competing at regional and national level. I also enjoy helping adult players lower their handicaps or rediscover their love for the game.

Every golfer has unique goals, and I take pride in helping each one succeed—whether that’s breaking 90 for the first time or preparing for competition. With my competitive background and years of coaching experience, I offer a blend of technical expertise and real-world insight.
